Synopsis

In Sardinia villages, collective life is characterized by yearly festivities and works related to productivity of the surrounding territories. This film, placed in Seneghe village, focuses on social collective events, such as the organization of the feast of San Sebastian, the carnival dances, olive harvesting, timber cutting, procession of Corpus Domini called Sa Ramadura, fires jumping in St. John’s day, bread baking and Sardinian sweets making. During these moments the whole community hands down traditional practices, recalling experiences from the past and involving all generations, by assigning specific tasks to them and demanding responsible commitments. The constant participation of the youth generations and the interest of the eldest to get them involved, strongly contributes in increasing the sense of community and preserving the rituals’ peculiarity in each village.
